Social Action

In 2020, GHIC in partnership with St. Nicholas church participated in the love Christmas project sponsored by loveyourneighbour. We were able to distribute over two hundred Christmas hampers to those in need. We are grateful for the sponsorship and collaboration that also gave our project of ex-offenders an opportunity to give back to the community by putting together Christmas hampers and wrapping them in a cordial environment. It was refreshing to see smiles on people’s faces as they received an unexpected Christmas gift for the Love Christmas project!

The year 2020 has been different in one particular way, Covid19! As the shutdown was imposed to try and curb the virus from spreading, companies and schools closed down, leaving single parents stranded as they could not go to work. This affected their household income and livelihoods. The same applies to ex-offenders who found themselves imprisoned again in their homes again. As the church looked for resources to land a hand, the Ammerdown charity trust responded by giving us a grant to help single parents and ex-offenders. We are grateful for their hospitality and support.
